ABOUT THE TEAM
Tampa Bay Aquatic Masters or "TBAM" is an active and enthusiastic masters swim team sanctioned by United States Masters Swimming and part of the Florida LMSC and Dixie Zone organizations. Established in January 2009 by former Forest Hills Aquatics swimmers, it preserves the ideals of its founding team and coach for a cordial, structured and spirited setting to train, compete and promote the sport.
TBAM is a diverse team with members of varying skills including fitness and competitive masters swimmers, triathletes and cross-trainers. Most swim to develop and maintain a healthy physical condition and positive mental well-being or to enhance fitness regimens. Others train to prepare and compete in St. Anthony's Triathlon, Madeira Beach Triathlon, Hurricane Man and more. Check Active Tampa for more local and regional events where some TBAM members compete.
Head Coach Juan Cue obtained his USMS Coaching Certification on September 10, 2022. He has been with TBAM since January, 2009. He can coach triathletes, competitive and beginner swimmers. Juan has successfully swum in multiple open water events, national/international swim meets and truly enjoys working with athletes of all abilities.
JOIN - BECOME A MEMBER
More than a pool or a place to swim, Tampa Bay Aquatic Masters upholds the United States Masters Swimming (USMS) mission to promote fitness and health through swimming and friendship. All adult men and women no matter their swimming or physical ability are welcome to join. We have several group levels, such as swimmers from beginner levels up to a few ex-college swimmers. Teammates should also share the desire to expand membership, assist with management and support one another in fair sport.
Tampa Bay Aquatic Masters dues are $40 monthly (in advance) to attend all practices or $25 for 4 or fewer sessions and include coaching, access to pool facilities and lifeguard services. USMS annual registration is not included in dues but required to participate in team practices held in City of Tampa pools and compete in sanctioned meets and events. The City of Tampa also requires a "RecCard" or annual recreation fee. The USMS application is available from the coach or easily join online. Drop-in swimmers are welcome with valid proof of USMS registration.
Kickboards, pull buoys and pace clocks are provided. Members purchase and furnish their swimsuits, goggles, training fins and other necessary gear or apparel. Tampa Bay Aquatic Masters does not require members to wear team suits or buy special equipment.
